History

The Rehabilitation Research Center (RRC) of Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) was founded in 2008 as the first rehabilitation research center in Iran. This center was launched to perform and support fundamental researches in related fields of rehabilitation including clinical rehabilitation, social sciences, rehabilitation engineering, and biomechanics. Some multi-disciplinary researches are done through joint projects. Rehabilitation research center acts as a catalyst to link different fields of both medicine and engineering. There are many university students and researchers in different majors including rehabilitation, sports sciences, biomechanics, ergonomics, etc. that are doing their research and theses in RRC. This center collaborates and consults with National Bureau of Medical Equipment (NBME) to determined standards for rehabilitation equipment, works with Exceptional Education and Training Organization and JMERC for war victims. The center helps researchers and university students to do research on rehabilitation related topics. Workshops and short training courses are regularly held in the center.

 

Goals

  • Fundamental researches in the fields of rehabilitation sciences, clinical rehabilitation, social searches, rehabilitation engineering, and biomechanics.
  • Multi-disciplinary research and joint projects in related fields.
  • Declaration of standards of rehabilitation equipments, and presenting related educations and consultancy.
  • Establishing the related training workshops.
  • Establishing scientific cooperation with other regional countries and international communities.

  • Training the researches in the fields of rehabilitation and biomechanics.
  • Attracting talented researchers.
  • Cooperation with other pioneering research and educational centers in the country.
  • Developing technical facilities.
  • Defining priorities in rehabilitation projects.
  • Providing the data bank for rehabilitation researches, papers, and documents.
  • Consulting and decision making management of projects.
